Counseling for ADHD Pre-teens

Empowering your pre-teen to thrive.

You reading this means you are committed to your ADHD pre-teen. You know that something needs to give, and you are looking for solutions.

In counseling, your ADHD pre-teen will learn new skills in the best way for them. Frequently ADHD pre-teens are visual learners that need frequent reminders. It is almost as if things go ‘poof’ in their brain and they have already forgotten what is expected of them. But at the same time, many parents feel that now that they are teens they need to do it on their own. You might feel there is no way they will make it to or finish college with the amount of times you have to remind them. You might feel that they are behind. But they are not!

In counseling, your family will learn about the unique brain of your ADHD pre-teen. We will develop a parenting plan that works for them, as well as you. It will empower them and let you step back (where appropriate of course). And you will see your ADHD pre-teen thrive. Maybe for the first time in a really long time?

If you know you are ready to commit to this difference, lets schedule now.

➤ Why is your ADHD pre-teen struggling now?

Your ADHD pre-teen has probably always been struggling, it is just now noticeable. Think back to whom they were as a child.

Truth is – many ADHD children do not get diagnosed until they are 13-15 years old! This is especially true for girls! At some point academics can become too much and it is almost like you have a totally different child- but this one is flailing. Their once A/B honor roll is now barely passing. Your once talkative daughter, is now hiding in her room. Homework takes hours. They are up until midnight. Distractions- they are everywhere. This is not your child- something has changed. And you are right. Your pre-teen may have undiagnosed ADHD.

Undiagnosed ADHD is very common, especially for girls, even more so for the inattentive type. They are the masters of disguise… especially if your daughter is also an introvert. Pre-teens with undiagnosed ADHD tend to plummet as they enter high school. Academically, socially, and emotionally they are a hot mess. But not always. Fixation is one ADHD trait; it is a special skill (we call it a super power) and this can easily help them blend in even more. This blending increases anxiety, can cause social struggles and so much more. Think about it- they are putting so much energy just keeping up academically, they don’t have energy for much else.
