Kristen Perry, LCMHCA

Hi, I’m Kristen and I can be your child’s therapist in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Here are a few things about me:

  • Straightforward approach
  • Mom of 2 wonderful kids and 3 step kids
  • Utilizes a Solution-Focused approach

I love working with ADHD and Autistic kids who bring big emotions, big reactions, and lots of personality to everyday moments, and I’m especially passionate about supporting military-connected families as they navigate transitions like deployment, relocation, and reintegration.

➤ Is this you?

  • You parent from an authoritative (clear, reasonable expectations) or ‘Panda’ (letting your child lead, problem-solve, and learn from mistakes) parenting approach, but it isn’t quite working. You need help establishing clear boundaries and structure within the home.
  • You crave order and productivity, but haven’t quite found the ‘magic’ to make it happen.
  • You encourage open communication, allowing your children the vital space to develop autonomy, independence and resilience through their own learning experiences.
  • Your child struggles with big feelings and emotions, and they don’t quite understand how to share their feelings without the meltdowns.
  • Your child experiences overwhelm on a daily basis, and you believe that a good system can set them up for success.

➤ How can I help?

  • I focus on developing a parenting plan that targets self-expression and self-advocacy to build a collaborative relationship between you and your child.
  • I develop strategies that create predictable, clear expectations while encouraging problem-solving and building natural executive function skills.
  • I am goal-oriented and work towards developing solutions that are practical, logical, and rooted in knowledge.
  • I also have a special interest in supporting military families navigating transitions such as deployment, relocation, and reintegration. My goal is to create a safe, predictable space where children can build coping skills, understand themselves, and experience growth through connection and play.

If you are looking for my credentials, here they are:

  • Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) in North Carolina
  • Masters of Arts in Professional Counseling at Liberty University
  • Working towards certification as a Registered Play Therapist
