Social Connections: Social Skills Group For Tech & Engineering Guys Ages 8-13

For kids who are ready to push their social skills to mastery level

ADHD and Autistic kids often struggle to feel connected. They are often described as annoying or bossy, with a ‘my way or the highway’ attitude. At times they don’t listen, are too hyper, and talk way too much. This group is about mastering the social skills to be socially successful and pushing the limits to ensure mastery.

➤ Social Connections: Social Skills Group for Tech & Engineering Guys Ages 8-13 will help your child master skills like…

If your hyperactive ADHD child

  • Being spatially aware of how their behaviors and movements may impact others
  • Know when and where high energy is appropriate
  • Focus on the social details that are often missed due to ADHD

 If your inattentive ADHD child

  • Notice the intricacies of social dynamics
  • Be mindful of when they zone out and how to let others know their needs
  • Gain mastery of wandering thoughts in social settings

If your Autistic child

  • Recognizing when is the timing for special interests, versus focusing on other’s stories

Here’s why…

  • We use therapist-led collaborative playing skills to teach better social and emotional skills.
  • We teach building friendships through playing, while naturally teaching skills like not interrupting, staying on task, and being effectively assertive.
  • We build on strengths while overcoming social limitations
  • We know that kids don’t learn from worksheets. We use unstructured play settings so that kids can learn social skills in a real setting, which transfers to home and school.
  • We also use structured skill-building activities to teach specific strategies for social success.
  • We provide updates on goals, behaviors and social concerns, including improvement towards lagging skills, as well as in-depth information on social skills development through our teachable platform.
  • We provide a mentorship atmosphere to strengthen learning through the transmission of values and attitudes
  • We establish and execute goals for both the child and parents
  • Our targeted curriculum is research-inspired and has shown significant social improvement for members who commit for a minimum of 4 consecutive months.

Effective Competitiveness & social challenges:  This is all about learning teamwork through collaboration, and team building skills. We are learning to reduce our competitiveness, while building friend skills in an energized setting. This month we are using team work to do everything from a field day to building a cantilever structure!

Communication challenges (Active listening and other forms of communication): This plays off of challenges often used in the Odyssey of the Mind® program which focuses on flexing your creative thinking skills while building problem solving skills specific to effective communication.

Leadership skills: We focus on using prior learned skills to learn how to thrive as leaders. We use everything from building a robot, to different building challenges to help our kids practice what they’ve learned.
