Alyse Bone, LCMHC-QS, RPT

Hi, my name is Alyse and I am a black therapist for ADHD and/or Autistic children and their families. Offering services at both our Southpark and Huntersville locations.

Let’s be direct and to the point. Here is a bit about me.

  • Direct approach
  • Black therapist- specializes with children with ADHD and ASD
  • Loves volunteering in the community
  • Younger sister has ADHD
  • Loves creative arts, mindfulness, and yoga

I absolutely love working with ADHD Autistic children ages 3-12 that are Gifted and anxious. I also enjoy supporting families with children of transracial adoption as well as minorities with an ADHD or Autism diagnosis.

➤ Is this you?

  • Your child was diagnosed with ADHD or ASD and struggles to communicate with the family or their peers. They seem to have trouble initiating or maintaining relationships.  You have no idea how to parent when your child has a diagnosis.
  • You seem to focus a majority of your energy on one child and the other siblings feel left out.
  • When you received your child’s psychological or psycho-educational testing results, were you overwhelmed with all the information?
  • Do you have trouble understanding IEP meetings and content involved with your child’s IEP? Do you feel alone like no one is advocating for your child’s needs and you are looking for directions for the next step?
  • Have you been to other professionals and have had no idea what was going on in sessions with your child or did not receive direction or strategies on how to help them?
  • You are looking for a black female therapist to help your child embrace being black with ADHD or Autism.
  • You have a transracially adopted ADHD or Autistic child. You are uncertain if their symptoms are related to trauma or ADHD. It seems difficult to understand how to support them.
  • Your child experiences low self-esteem/confidence and they are struggling to see strengths in their uniqueness and form a healthy identity.

➤ How can I help?

  • Working in the school system and doing psycho-educational testing, I have an understanding of what children need and how the process works. I can help you prepare for IEP and 504 meetings, understand the difference between the two, and better advocate for your rights. I can even go with you to those meetings to help your voice be heard. I work intensely with the school and teachers to support your child and give you a voice as a parent. I will often go to the school as much as needed.
  • I work to develop healthy dynamics within the family unit and help parents establish strategies to utilize in the home. We will meet weekly for at least 8 weeks to ensure you feel confident and in charge at home.
  • I work to help you understand the meaning behind the difficult behaviors and develop a new perspective to your child’s behaviors.
  • At Dandelion Family Counseling you will always know what is going on.  Between our frequent meetings, follow-up emails, and the ease of reaching me – you will always feel prepared and ready to go.
  • I specialize with both ADHD and ASD and have trained through the Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities (CIDD) and TEACCH at UNC. I also worked at the CIDD with an interdisciplinary team to test or rule out ASD in children ages 3-6. I am also preparing to finalize my studies as a Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA) and have received training under adjunct professors/psychologists at UNC.
  • I provide intense psychoeducation about how the brain-behavior is connected based on the diagnosis or symptoms and how this impacts your child as a whole being.
