At Dandelion Family Counseling, we strive to be a place where your child can be themselves. Often, children with ADHD face many challenges of being able to just freely be themselves. Here at Dandelion, we want your child to feel comfortable, free to be themselves, and even bounce off the walls if they need to. Our goal with ADHD treatment is to help your child excel in daily life without taking away from who they are. We have seen the results and know that our ADHD treatment works. You may be questioning, how does your treatment work? How is it different from other practices? We have condensed the answers to those questions you may be thinking into 5 ways ADHD treatment at Dandelion Family Counseling works.
1) Our Office
We have designed our office for each child to have a place to feel comfortable and to be themselves. We offer wobble seats, fidgets, weighted lap pads, and a variety of toys for your child to help with their sensory needs. If your child needs to jump around or lay on the floor, that is completely acceptable here.
2) Sessions
Here at Dandelion, our therapists make sure that your child enjoys each one of their sessions. A session may consist of painting, building LEGOs, playing board games, etc. Each one of our therapists is trained to provide an enjoyable session with your child while also implementing ways to best support your child and their ADHD. We also require parenting sessions where typically within 8 weeks you will fully understand the biological and developmental potentials of children with ADHD. Not only will you have a better understanding of the diagnosis, but your parenting confidence will soar!
3) Group
On top of individual sessions, we offer a variety of groups and some of them are specifically aimed towards children with ADHD. Each week, the group has a new activity that will keep your child engaged and learning new skills. Group is also a great tool to help your child interact with others and build new friendships.
4) Communication with Parents
We believe that communication is key, therefore; we always keep the parents in the loop about their child. Our goal of parent sessions is to help provide a place to talk and create new strategies and tools to support your child with ADHD. We know that parents need to be included in this process so we make sure to keep everyone on the same page.
5) Your child
We believe that ADHD treatment at Dandelion Family Counseling works because your child will be highly involved in the treatment and they will enjoy the activities and skills because they will be individually altered to your child’s interests and needs. Your child is a huge part of their treatment and we make sure that is known.
At Dandelion Family Counseling, our goal is to provide the best treatment possible for your child with ADHD while offering you tools too. We know that this is a process and we plan to be there every step of the way.
