Hi, I’m Michelle and I can be your counselor in Charlotte, North Carolina.
This is where you decide whether or not I am the right fit for you. Let’s face it, that is really important.
The parents that choose me tend to be parents that are ready for action. They are committed to finding solutions and like my straightforward approach. I am not the therapist who will take the easiest route. I am the therapist who checks in on you, follows up with doctors and teachers, and ensures that you feel connected. I am the therapist that will make sure you are involved in the process. In fact, we will meet every single week.
I love working with children, teens and overwhelmed parents. I am passionate about supporting those with Aspergers, ADHD, and Twice Exceptionals ages 3-17.
Personally, I was diagnosed with ADHD- combined type in college. I was an introvert that blended in until one teacher saw through my cracks and realized I needed help. I am still the introvert, but now I support others that need that extra bit of TLC. My passion is working with ADHD and Aspergers, especially those that are gifted (twice exceptionals). These kids and teens need someone who has been there, you might to.
I am licensed both in North Carolina (LPC) and Florida (LMHC). I earned my Master’s of Science in Counseling Psychology at Palm Beach Atlantic University in Florida and moved to Charlotte in 2016. Being duel-licensed means I had to prove twice that I am competent as a counselor. It took years of graduate studies and three additional years of supervision to meet those credentials. I have been licensed since that time.
I am also a Registered Play Therapist. This requires an additional 150 hours of graduate studies and an additional year of supervision. This certification is an additional training completed by counselors who specialize in working with children ages 3-8.
Lastly, I am in the process of becoming certified as a Sand Tray Therapist. I have already completed 2 years of intensive training and expect to complete my certification by the end of 2019.
I am a member of the Association for Play Therapy and the American Counseling Association and I am also a National Certified Counselor.
